There was a time I went looking for home in people โ in friendships, in faith circles, in the LGBTQ+ community, in love.
What I found instead were reflections of my own broken pieces staring back at me through others who couldnโt hold them.
For years, I searched for solace where I was only meant to learn boundaries.
I mistook empathy for obligation, and kindness for a currency others could spend freely.
But pain became my teacher โ and awareness became my freedom.
Today, I see clearly. I understand how systemic neglect, religious conditioning, and cultural silence weave themselves into the way we treat difference โ especially in our African and queer spaces, where love and shame still wrestle daily.
Now I speak, write, and sing from a place of healing โ not hurt.
My art became my sanctuary.
My voice, my rebellion.
My story, my offering.
Because once youโve lived through the storm, you donโt just survive โ you translate.
You turn the chaos into language, and language into light for others still searching.
So, I use my life as both lens and mirror โ to reflect truth, advocate for mental health, and remind anyone listening that love, real love, does not manipulate, silence, or drain you. It heals.
And if my journey can help even one person feel seen, then every scar has already done its job.
