The Sin We Ignore

Ezekiel 16:49 and the Weaponisation of Faith

Why does modern faith ignore most of scripture—yet obsess over one issue?

This isn’t rebellion. It’s a necessary question.

The Verse That Was Quietly Sidelined

“Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness… neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.” — Ezekiel 16:49

This is the text defining itself.

And yet—it is rarely centred.

What If the Narrative Was Redirected?

The dominant teaching reduces Sodom to sexuality.

But the broader context points toward:

  • Abuse of power
  • Exploitation of others
  • Violence disguised as desire
  • Excess without accountability

This is not about identity. It is about harm.

Selective Scripture Is Strategy

When entire sections of scripture are ignored—but one issue is amplified—

that is not neutrality.

That is selection.

And selection often serves power.

The Hypocrisy Ezekiel Exposes

Ezekiel describes a society that had everything—

and chose not to care.

  • Pride without humility
  • Wealth without responsibility
  • Comfort without compassion

Not rebellion.

Indifference.

The Question We Avoid

We keep asking:

“Who is sinning?”

But the real question is:

“Who are we ignoring while we debate sin?”

Final Reflection

If we are going to speak about sin—let’s speak about all of it.

Because according to Ezekiel 16:49, the greatest failure was never difference…

It was indifference.
